Dam Atlas 2.0

Project Codename: Kingfisher

Communities struggle to make decisions around historic dams, which can have environmental, social, and economic impacts. Enter the Dam Atlas, a set of knowledge, strategies, tools, and maps to help communities make informed decisions about their dams. We worked with a joint team from University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island School of Design to thoughtfully blend the hard data and softer knowledge into this interactive and informative website.

Custom Map Development by Rubén Rodríguez

I can’t begin to describe how grateful I am to Greg and the team at Tanager for their help with the development of the Dam Atlas. The project was a massive undertaking—I had a clear vision, but had never built a website before, so the process initially felt overwhelming. Greg provided thoughtful guidance not only on the website itself, but also on content strategy and how to communicate the project to the public in a clear and engaging way. Having someone so attentive to how users would interact with the material was incredibly valuable. He was patient throughout, helped me navigate difficult decisions, remained responsive to feedback, and kept the project moving forward with clarity and care.
