The Malibu Creek Docents are a 40+ year old independent non-profit organization that partners with California State Parks, dedicated to educational and interpretive activities designed to help the public appreciate the natural history, environment, and recreational opportunities of Malibu Creek State Park.They operate a highly-visited public-facing informational website about the Park, with in-depth content on the natural and human history of the park. We just launched a redesign of malibucreekstatepark.org with a brand refresh inspired by the natural and human-made color palette of the park. Along with the public-facing site, we also built an all-new volunteer portal with robust tools to manage internal resources such as calendars, volunteer sign-ups, and more.

Volunteer Portal
We built this volunteer portal for the Docents to manage a variety of internal operations. Central to the portal is a Sign Up Sheet and Internal Calendar which are seamless to manage for admins, and easy to use for all docents.
1. Admins create events on shared Google Calendar, and the web app automatically syncs and displays events on the Sign Up Sheet and Internal Calendar.
2. Docents sign up for volunteer slots on the Sign Up Sheet
3. Volunteers from the Sign Up Sheet are automatically added as Google Calendar event attendees, and calendar invites/email notifications are sent to the volunteers.
